About Emily

Meet Emily Hurst, an experienced educational therapist and passionate advocate for children’s learning and development, based in Los Angeles, CA. With over 18 years of experience in education, Emily specializes in helping students of all ages overcome learning challenges and unlock their full potential.

Emily holds a B.A. in Speech Therapy, a Master’s degree in Educational Therapy (ET), and a Mild/Moderate Special Education teaching credential cleared through UCLA. She is currently completing a PhD in Special Education Leadership, focusing on the profound effects of parental attachment on children’s learning outcomes. Additionally, Emily is professionally certified by the Association of Educational Therapists, underscoring her expertise in the field.

Throughout her career, Emily has worked in various educational settings, emphasizing the importance of individualized learning strategies. She has provided educational therapy services in Los Angeles, where she built a successful practice in the Los Angeles area, specializing in helping students with learning disabilities, ADHD, and executive functioning difficulties. She has also served as a speech therapist in Compton, CA, and worked as a behaviorist at a prestigious preschool in Los Angeles. For nearly a decade, Emily has been a special education teacher and executive functioning coach for the Beverly Hills School District, working with students from TK-12th grade.

Emily’s expertise lies in creating customized, holistic educational plans that integrate each child’s unique learning style, strengths, and interests. Her approach goes beyond academic tutoring, fostering a nurturing environment emphasizing emotional and cognitive growth. Her work is grounded in the belief that every child deserves an educational experience that is both effective and empowering.

 As part of her commitment to providing comprehensive support, Emily works in close collaboration with schools, teachers, and other allied professionals, including psychologists, speech therapists, and counselors, to ensure that every child receives holistic treatment. This collaborative approach ensures that each child’s educational, emotional, and behavioral needs are addressed in an integrated and cohesive manner, leading to more effective outcomes across all areas of development.  

In addition to her formal roles, Emily has worked as a nanny for children of high-profile families in San Francisco and Los Angeles, where she gained valuable insights into the personal dynamics that can influence learning at home.
